A person who contaminated candy with tranquilliser and distributed them to children at a youth camp in the area has confessed to sexual offences against two boys who were nine and ten years old.
The accused was arrested after eight minors and one adult fell ill at the location in July.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the judicial center on recently.
However, he denied one particular crime he was accused of, which was against a young boy.
The defendant was remanded in custody ahead of a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, detailed the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She explained his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer camp which he operated.
Ruben conducted a "sweet game" with the minors, the prosecutor stated, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She told the court Ruben had conducted this practice with the boys "repeatedly", and minors had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She said the man had been able to explain this repeatedly as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had worries in summer 2025.
The legal representative added: "Recently" his stepson had suspicions about the situation, for good reason.
"They resolved" to have a look in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel explained objects including infant oil, ointment and medical needles were located, and his stepson contacted the police about his suspicions.
She explained the man continued to conduct the "treat game" with six boys that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that point," she added.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
The prosecutor said the minors were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson called the authorities again.
She stated the man then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five children.
